Trolley Plaza begins its cycle as a more conventional urban plaza of monumental rigidity, composed of 100 retrofitted street trolleys. Initially, laid out in a perfect grid, it is an effort in placemaking at the scale of the city. The public is invited to push and pull individual carts. This grants the public to take a more active role in localized placemaking. In time, Trolley Plaza’s changing formations will reflect the diverse needs and desires of the public – an urban monument of constant change.
